During the first two years, following attestation, you will complete the following:
- Probationary Officer Development Programme - This programme ensures that you have been able to consolidate all of the training already provided in your 21 weeks at the Police College. It will take place over a two year period and will develop your learning and competence in the operational policing environment. The programme will be jointly delivered with Ulster University and will lead to a BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminology (Applied Practice) for undergraduate applicants or a Graduate Certificate in Policing and Criminology (Applied Practice) for those applicants who already hold an honours degree. (All honours degrees will be reviewed for eligibility on commencement of Student Officer Training). Before your two year probationary period ends, you must successfully complete the Probationary Officer Development Programme.
- Online Courses, for example Data Protection and Management of Police Information Systems.
- Other training that you will be required to complete includes Firearms Training, Personal Safety Training and First Aid Training.
