The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is delighted that you have taken the first step in beginning your application to join our organisation.
Before proceeding with your application, please take time to read and understand these guidance notes.
Due to the sensitive nature of your application, there will be no facility to register, login or save a partially completed application. Your application must be completed in one sitting.
During the process, if you close your browser or lose internet connectivity, your information will not be saved and you will have to restart the application process.
The application form must be completed within 90 minutes. After 90 minutes your session will close and you will lose your partially completed application.
The application period closes at 3pm on the 4th February 2026. Applications must be fully completed in advance of the 3pm deadline. Partially completed applications will not be saved and cannot be submitted.
When completing the application please do not use autofill as incorrect data not related to you may be entered. In addition, please also ensure that where relevant you enter an email address that will be unique to you.
If you cannot remember or locate your National Insurance number, please visit www.gov.uk/lost-national-insurance-number for assistance before beginning the application form. If you are an applicant from the Republic of Ireland, please use your Personal Public Service (PPS) number. If you do not hold a UK National Insurance number or a Republic of Ireland Personal Public Service (PPS) number please use your country’s equivalent.
If you realise that you have entered incorrect details into a previously submitted application, you should contact the Recruitment Team at info@joinpsni.co.uk to explain what needs to be changed (e.g. address, telephone number etc.). If you do submit another identical form, all applications may be rejected.
Needs relating to disabilities or other conditions, including hidden disabilities or conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, and specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia
As part of the online application form you will have the opportunity to request a reasonable adjustment in relation to disabilities or other conditions so that they can be considered for both the Initial Selection Test (IST) and the Assessment Centre. In addition to telling us about your reasonable adjustment needs in this application form, we would ask you to follow up by providing us with supporting diagnostic evidence, addressing reasonable adjustment needs, by email to info@joinpsni.co.uk as soon as possible after applying. The due date for receipt of supporting evidence in relation to reasonable adjustment needs is 5pm on 4th February 2026.
Please note that even if you applied to Police Service before and were granted an adjustment, you will be required to submit evidence again for this campaign. Deloitte is contracted to act as independent recruitment agent for PSNI and is involved in the control and processing of data pertaining to the Deloitte managed stages of the Police Officer Recruitment process (i.e. application stage, initial selection test stage and assessment centre stage). Deloitte shall process the Personal Data as reasonably required to provide the Services, meet its legal or regulatory obligations or for its other reasonable business purposes (including quality control and administration). Deloitte may disclose Personal Data to any third parties including its subcontractors, regulators and (with the consent of the PSNI) to any party based in any jurisdiction including a jurisdiction outside the European Economic Area, provided that such disclosure is reasonably required in connection with such purposes, and is at all times in compliance with applicable Data Protection Legislation.
As part of the application process, you are required to complete the Equality Monitoring section of the application form.
This enables you to provide information on your community background and sex as well as other characteristics that are important in ensuring that the recruitment process is fair. None of the information in the Equality Monitoring section of the application form will be used to assess your eligibility to be appointed as a student officer.
In accordance with the Fair Employment and Treatment (NI) Order 1998 and the Fair Employment (Monitoring) Regulations (NI) 1999, employers in Northern Ireland have a legal duty to monitor the composition of their workforce and of those applying to fill vacancies.
