Career Breaks and Flexible Working Hours

Serving members of the PSNI can apply to take a career break during their time with the organisation. The availability of career breaks is balanced at all times with operational needs. Uniformed staff can take 12 months unpaid leave and support staff can take up to 5 years off.

Flexible working is available in the form of 'reduced hours', 'part-time' and the Part Time Reserve. Job sharing has also been introduced. It is important to bear in mind that all of these options can only be facilitated within certain roles.
