Communications and Appointment Scheduling

Communications with you during the recruitment process

Communication from Deloitte

When we receive your application we will review it thoroughly to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and have completed the form properly. We will write to online applicants by letter within 10 working days of receiving your application.

Providing you meet the eligibility requirements and your application form is completed properly we will write to you with a date, time and location for your Initial Selection Test (IST).

Please remember to be discreet when talking about your application to join the PSNI, and do not give away details about the locations, dates or times of your test or assessment appointments (please refer here for more).

We will try to schedule your attendance for the IST at a location (based on your postcode if your address is in Northern Ireland) and time to suit you. There will be a limited number of evening and Saturday sessions for IST's and they are offered on a first come / first served basis. Please note that Saturday appointments are only available in Belfast. To prepare for your IST use the IST Practice Test: Word / PDF .

After your IST it will take some time for us to process the results, so please be patient. Please note, it could take up to two months for us to write to you with the result. On the day of your IST we will endeavour to advise you of exactly when you should expect to hear the result.

If you pass the IST you will be invited to an Assessment Centre. Assessment Centre appointments are only available Monday to Friday, during office hours. If you are invited to the Assessment Centre we will include details about what an Assessment Centre entails with your invitation letter.

If you attend an Assessment Centre, it will take a considerable amount of time for us to process your Assessment Centre results. On the day of your Assessment Centre we will give you an indication of how long it will be before we contact you with a pass or fail result. Once all Assessment Centres have been completed we will also write to you with a detailed feedback report and breakdown of your Assessment Centre scores. Please note that we will probably not be in a position to provide your Assessment Centre feedback and scores report until the end of September 2010.

All communications with you regarding your application up to and including the Assessment Centre results will be handled by Deloitte.

Communication from PSNI

If you pass the Assessment Centre Deloitte will pass your details to the PSNI who may be in contact with you.

PSNI may send you a vetting questionnaire, which should be returned to them within two weeks of receipt (if you do not return the vetting questionnaire to PSNI in time your application will be discontinued). You may also be invited by PSNI OHW to attend a Medical Examination. If and when you are invited will depend on how well you have done at the Assessment Centre.

All communications regarding your vetting and medical examination (if you are indeed to participate in either) and any possible offer of employment will be handled by PSNI directly.

Communications with Deloitte

Upon receipt of your online application it will take us approximately 10 working days to process it and write out to you. Please be patient and do not contact us until this time has expired.

Throughout the recruitment process our preferred method of communication is in writing either by email or letter. Our contact details are available by clicking here.

If you write to us with a query that cannot be answered by reading our website, we will reply to you as soon as possible, and usually within maximum of 10 working days.

Please remember our preferred way of communicating with you regarding an application is in writing. In particular we are only able to process changes of your details (e.g. change of address), which we receive in writing.

When you contact us please include as many personal details as possible-this will expedite our reply to you. If you are a current candidate please include your Name, UID Number, Date of Birth, Address and if possible your National Insurance Number.

When writing to us by letter you may wish to consider using (at your own expense) 'Recorded Signed For' or 'Special Delivery' mail services which will provide a receipt. Doing so may provide you with some peace of mind regarding your communication with us. Unfortunately Deloitte cannot take any responsibility for mail lost enroute and it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure on-time / successful delivery of mail sent to us by post.

If possible, when you phone us, for security / data protection reasons please try to call us yourself, rather than get a friend or relative to do so.

Rescheduling Policy

Generally we do not reschedule appointments that we have set for you.

If however, when you receive appointments for the IST and Assessment Centre, you find that you would have significant problems attending we will endeavour to accomodate a change. However please understand that we require sufficient notice to do this and we will advise you at each stage how much notice is required for a change to be accommodated. We may not always be able to reschedule an appointment, therefore we would ask you to minimise the number of times you make this request. If you do request a rescheduled date, you must provide a written request accompanied with a photocopy of detailed documentary evidence of why you are unable to attend (e.g. holiday booking tickets, work rotas, medical appointment letters).

Photographic Identification

You will be required at all stages of the recruitment process to provide Photographic Identification at all tests and assessments in order to proceed.

The only forms of Photo ID that we can accept are:

  • Passports
  • Driving Licence (with photograph)
  • Northern Ireland Electoral Identity Card

If you do not have a Passport or Driving Licence (with photograph), but are registered to vote in Northern Ireland, you may be able to obtain an Electoral Identity Card from the Electoral Office, who can be contacted at 0800 4320 712 or by visiting www.electoralofficeni.gov.uk.

If you do have the correct Photo ID, but it is not in the name with which you applied to join the PSNI (e.g. you recently changed your name after getting married or through a deed of change of name), please contact Deloitte for further instruction via info@joinpsni.co.uk or by calling the phone number printed at the bottom of any letter we have sent you.
