Vetting
Applicants to the PSNI are vetted to guarantee that they are suitable to carry out the duties of a Police Officer and to ensure the community at large has full confidence in its Police Service.
The PSNI may send out a vetting questionnaire to all applicants who successfully complete the Assessment Centre.
In line with NPIA guidelines, the PSNI must ensure that they have obtained adequate and satisfactory vetting information on all applicants, each application will be dealt with on a case by case basis. If a candidate has recently resided abroad and does not have a three year checkable criminal record history, they will be unable to be vetted and their application will not be processed further. Any queries should be referred to CJ4 Branch, PSNI Criminal Justice Department, 29 Knocknagoney Road, Belfast, BT4 2PP.
If you require a vetting questionnaire you will be required to complete and return it to PSNI within two weeks of receipt - if you do not do this it will lead to your application being discontinued.
