If successful in the Student Officer Training Programme and formally attested into the Police Service of Northern Ireland, you will have two years as a probation period, during which you will be continually coached and assessed in written, practical and physical exercises. Probationer Constables must pass these assessments before they can be confirmed in the rank of Constable. After this, there are lots of opportunities for training in both specialist and general areas of policing and for promotion (see here for further details).
